Ellee's birthday story.

I was lucky enough to have my water break! Well, sorta..it decided to break at 3:20 in the morning. I called my midwife and she said since I hadn't started contractions yet that I could wait a bit to go to the hospital. She told me to go back to bed and get some rest. Yeah right..there was now way I was sleeping! At about 7:30am we headed to the hospital stopping at my friend Julie's house to drop off the dogs. She took one last prego pic of Shayne and me.

By the time I got all checked in at 8:30am I had still not had any major contractions and was dilated only to 1cm. My midwife was slightly concerned because when your water breaks after the 18hr. mark they get concerned with infection. I wasn't anywhere near 18 hrs yet but, she still suggested I jump start contractions. She gave me this pill that comes to as close to natural as possible without using petocin. It wasn't supposed to kick in until after 4o min. but, not even 15 min later I had a major contraction that lasted a long time..my stomach was not releasing it. At the same time Ellee's heart rate dropped severely for about 8 minutes. Before I knew it there was nurses everywhere along with my midwife and they were paging a Dr. and shoving an IV in me and telling me to flip over along with lots of other stuff...talk about scary. They gave me a shot to release the contraction and Ellee's heart rate went back up to normal. At that point my midwife checked me again and I had jumped to being dilated to 3cm. And with in 2 hours I was up to 5cm. I was begging for an epidural at this point! The contractions were so close together I didn't even have a chance to catch my breath.


Let me just say I will never give birth without that epidural..it is wonderful!!! :) I couldn't feel any pain! After the epidural it was only about 4 short hours until I was dilated to 10cm and Ellee's heart rate was slightly low again. My midwife said it was time to start pushing. 1 short hour later and Miss Ellee was in my arms!

I cannot even express the emotions that ran through me! It was love at first sight! And she had already gotten her Daddy wrapped around her little finger!

Sorry this has taken me so long to post. It has been a very busy week! I can't believe Miss Ellee is already a week old!!

I will post more pictures and details soon! It has been a crazy couple of days already. Shayne has been working hard to get the house ready so we can move in. My Mom has let us stay with her in the mean time. I know she loves having Miss Ellee close by! :) And she has been a big help with her! We get to start moving in today!! Love you all!!

39 weeks & 2 days

We went to a family reunion on Saturday for Shayne's side of the family. It was at a nice park in Olympia. Here are some pictures! Sarah tagged along with us. :)

Keys!!!

The house is finally ours!! We are so excited!! Today we got the keys to our new home (well new to us :) ) and we are finally homeowners!!

We have a lot to do in the next week before we can move in!
Shayne has already started pulling up the old carpet so it can be ready for the new hardwood floors & carpet to be installed next Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. We are also hoping to get the whole house painted this weekend and early next week before the floors go in. As much as I want to meet miss Ellee...I am kind of hoping she can wait just a bit longer so we can get moved in...it will be close though!! :)

Wow!! It almost feels unreal...We have our very own home!!!! (Can you tell I'm excited????!!!!)

38 weeks!

I can't believe I only have 2 weeks left!!!

birthing class @ 37 weeks

Shayne and I finally took a birthing class on Saturday. We did a 1 day cram session. We should have done this over a month ago but, I am a procrastinator!! Oh well, at least we got it done! :) It was very interesting and I learned a lot. Shayne said it was boring but, I think he got a lot out of it too. He at least got to spend about a half hour in my shoes!! Check out the great pics!!

Ellee's 1st Mariners Game.

Ellee went to her first Mariner's game versus the Orioles on June 3rd. We had such a fun time thanks to Emily's husband Jason. He treated us with great seats behind home plate! He was recently called up from his minor league team the Norfolk Tides to play as a starting pitcher for the Orioles! We are so proud of him!

After the game we got to go down on the field and then down underneath the stadium to wait in the "Green Room" for Jason. We got to talk to him for a bit and then saw him off on his team bus. We had such a great time!

Father's Day

I know this is a week late but, Father's Day was filled with mixed emotions for me. I miss my Dad everyday but, there are certain days of the year I miss him even more...and this is one of them!!

Although I miss my Dad terribly Father's Day this year was also an exciting time...Shayne is going to be a Dad soon!! That is so hard to believe! Time is flying by so fast and before we know it Ellee will be here! I know Shayne will make and EXCELLENT Father!! Happy Father's Day Shayners!!! I love you!! :)

update on house

Yay! The final Purchase and Sale is finally signed by the bank that owns the house! We can now move forward!! We have scheduled the inspection. And now our bank can move forward with all the loan paperwork!! Now it is a race to see if we can close on time. If not it will happen...We're not going to stress! :)

35 weeks.

5 weeks to go!! This picture was taken at Kensington Gardens for Sarah's CIP graduations. What a beautiful place!!

6/2 midwife appointment

I had another appointment yesterday. It went pretty well. It started out just like any other appointment but, when then midwife went to listen to the heartbeat at first she said it sounded a little low. But, then she was able to hear it again and it was normal. She said that when I laid down the baby probably just pressed up against the umbilical cord for a second which could cause the irregular heartbeat. Just to be on the safe side though when they were all done they hooked me up to the fetal heartbeat monitor so they could monitor Ellee's heartbeat for an extended amount of time. They monitored her for about 20 minutes and everything was normal! It was kind of cool to be able to hear her heartbeat for so long. She was constantly moving the whole time! They said I have a very active little girl on my hands. :)

I finally got the results back from the 2nd glucose test I had to take.
They came back normal!! So, no gestational diabetes for me!! :)

I had figured they had come back okay because I didn't hear anything right away..still made me nervous though!
